Our Mediators

All our mediators have varying backgrounds in family-centred work, but they are all either practising family lawyers in senior positions at prominent law firms in the South West, or leading academics and lecturers.

Penny Rogers - Director of Devon Family Solutions Ltd

Penny qualified as an all issues mediator in 1999 with Resolution and is LAA recognised. She is also a professional practice consultant for mediation.  She is also qualified to carry out direct consultation with children. Penny practised for approximately 20 years in all aspects of family law and was a member of Law Society Family Law Panel, Children Panel and the Mediation Panel. She was also a collaborative lawyer.

Emma Benyon-Tinker

Emma qualified as a mediator in 2012 with Resolution. She has 12 years experience as a family solicitor specialising mainly in children and financial matters. She is an Accredited Resolution specialist for domestic abuse, advanced financial provision 1 and private children law and a collaborative lawyer. Emma is currently working towards recognition by the LAA.

Jane Chanot

Jane qualified as a mediator in 1998 with Resolution and is LAA recognised. She has 20 years experience as a family solicitor dealing will all aspects especially child abduction cases and internationally related matters. She is a member of Resolution Accredited Family Law, Reunite and a collaborative lawyer. 

Monica Cockett

Monica qualified as a mediator in 1986 with FMA and is LAA recognised. She was one of the first to train as a mediator in the SouthWest.  She has a background in Social Policy and was a Research fellow at the Department of Child Health at Exeter University. She is a founder member of the Peninsula Family Justice Council, National Trainer for Resolution, and a member of Family Collaborative Law Group.  She is also a professional practice consultant for mediation. 

Norman Hartnell

Norman qualified as a mediator in 1992 with FMA and is LAA recognised. He has 30 years experience as a family solicitor dealing with all aspects. He is also qualified to carry out direct consultation with children.  He is a mediation representative for the Peninsula Family Justice Council and has represented the Board of FMA in discussions with the LAA. He is a member of the Law Society Children Panel, Reunite and a collaborative lawyer. 

David Howell-Richardson

David qualified as a mediator in 1997 with FMA and is LAA recognised. He has over 30 years experience as a family solicitor mainly specialising in children issues. He is a member of the Law Society Family Law Panel, Children Panel and a collaborative lawyer.

Ida Merrison

Ida qualified as a mediator in 2011 with Resolution. She has 8 years experience as a family solicitor who specialises in all issues of family law. Ida is currently working towards recognition by the LAA. 

Rebecca Procter

Rebecca qualified as a mediator in 1999 with Resolution and is LAA recognised. She has 17 years experience as a family solicitor mainly specialising in complex financial matters. She is a member of Law Society Mediation Panel, an Accredited Resolution specialist for Finances and Domestic Abuse and a collaborative lawyer.

Catherine Strigner

Catherine qualified as a mediator in 2006 with Resolution. She has 20 years experience as a family solicitor specialising mainly in financial matters. She is an Accredited Resolution specialist for Finances and Advocacy for Children. Catherine is currently working towards recognition by the LAA. 

Greg Yates

Greg qualified as a mediator in 2012 with Resolution. He has over 30 years experience as a family solicitor in all aspects of family law specialising in children matters. Greg is also a civil mediator and a collaborative lawyer. Greg is currently working towards recognition by the LAA.

All of our mediators come with a range of experience, skills and up to date knowledge of the current family law. All our mediators understand how important it is that families can make decisions for themselves rather than having something imposed upon them through the court process. Positive outcomes can be achieved when families are able to explore solutions for themselves. All our mediators want to achieve a positive, realistic and long standing outcomes for families.
